A Look Into Our Herbal Apothecary: Butterfly Pea Flower

This might be my favorite shade of blue now. I just acquired this flower in my apothecary yesterday when I went to my local herb shop to restock some things. I always attempt to add at least one new herb to the gang on restock days. It keeps us growing and versatile in our knowledge and in the ways we able to heal others.
This color! When butterfly pea steeps in water, it created this beautiful, vibrant that you see in this photo. Add lemon to it and it becomes stunning shade of purple! Butterfly Pea is considered Chinese Medicine as it can be found in SE Asia (Thailand, Malaysia, etc.) and is known for its captivating color. Often used in food coloring and dye's but also known for its many medicinal benefits.

The most popular way to enjoy the Butterfly Pea is by simply steeping it in a tea, however, You may also include it in your cooking, dying, art processes.
Make tinctures and extracts or put in capsules for daily intake.
Make into an oil or paste to use in a topical- I like to use this on my scalp as moisturizer and on the skin for healing.
Cook with Butterfly Pea for natural food coloring.
