Mastering The Calm By Taking My Time

ree

I never fathomed the toll that stress takes on the body until I was studying it in depth in my college anatomy/physiology class. Before that, it was just a word used to describe the act of over thinking or over worrying, particularly over things that we do not, or have very little, control over. It was a term that my parents and other adults threw around. It was a word that I found myself saying without truly understanding it's textbook definition, though valid, I can't say I understood what it really means for my nervous system to actually endure stress or what that means for my body on a cellular level. It's a chemical reaction in the nervous system and the cells that have the ability to directly effect your immune system and create disease. It is the ultimate silent killer. The ultimate chronic disease that we often shrug off as a badge of honor. We quite literally exist in an environment that breeds this unnatural, yet constant state of false fulfillment where we think our stress levels are a direct and positive correlation of our productivity.... I have bad news for you. It's a tactic to keep you ill. If they can make you think that stress, overproduction, and little to no rest is to be praised, then you can be fooled into creating a nervous system that will work against you and ultimately contribute to population control.

I just quit my corporate job a week ago. I had no plan when I did it. I have been spending the last couple weeks camping, exploring, being, foraging, resting, working, and most importantly LIVING. My mornings start slower and my days are blended together because my concept of time has changed-it almost doesn't exist. I'm existing in another realm of reality that I don't think most would understand unless, of course, they are also on the same path or at least free in their minds and dead to their ego. I do work. Work will always be involved in my endeavors, that can't change simply because we live in what they call an "economy" and it requires currency to function. Outside of basic needs and justifiable wants, I am living a minimalist lifestyle, therefore I have de-centered currency, and ultimately the stress and fast pace environment that used to come with working for corporate America. I was your typical, over- qualified, over- worked, and under-paid employee. I enjoyed my job, the people I worked with, and the skills I acquired. I cannot say that it fully ever resonated with my soul however. I imagined a life off grid, living self sufficiently, creating community, making and selling my products, filming workshops, and healing the world. There is no space the two lives to coexist and it did not take very much for me to decide that I was ready to take the gamble and trust myself. The idea of fake security within a system just no longer served me. I am so very happy that I chose myself. I am calmer, happier, softer, freer, and flowing in my divine feminine energy. I took my life back which allowed me to take my nervous system back. I knew that existing in the constant state of worry, panic, or stress was not normal, yet I was unable to regulate my nervous system. I had to break away from the system to heal my internal systems. And now, at 28yrs of age, I finally begin to LIVE.
