This will be a short series about all of the painkillers that you can find in the wild that serve the purpose of killing your pain minus the addictive side effects. Yes, nature provides us herbs with opiate-like effects that are not only non-addictive, but safe for children and animals. California Poppy is a staple in my herbal medicine cabinet and the very first herb we will cover in this series!
Best known for it's sedative and healing properties, the entire plant is harvested for their medicinal properties, however the leaves are only edible when cooked. I recommend using California Poppy flowers as a tea or tincture. The sap can be used as an opiate for pain relief, I like to recommend it for tooth aches.
Medicinal Properties
-Diuretic
-Analgesic
-Antispasmodic
-Sedative

Medicinal Uses Include:
-Pain Relief, Relaxing muscle spasm,
-Helps with opiate withdrawal
-PTSD & Anxiety Disorders
-Suppresses milk production for women
-Tooth Aches (the sap can be used on the tooth externally)
-Encourages the body to sweat and detox
Warnings: Do not drive or operate heavy machinery when using California Poppy. Consult with your doctor if you have pre existing health conditions or are currently on medication. Do not mix with other prescribed medication.
